Eboné F. Bell (she/her/hers) is a visionary speaker and trailblazer illuminating the realms of DEI, leadership, entrepreneurship, and activism. Widely recognized as the founder and former editor of Tagg Magazine, an award-winning print publication and media company dedicated to serving LGBTQ women across the nation.

For her outstanding contributions, Forbes Magazine featured her as an “Inspiring Black Entrepreneur Changing Our World,” reflecting her commitment to creating meaningful change. Eboné’s mission is clear: to make a lasting impact on the world. Among her notable achievements is the initiation of a student group for LGBTQ people of color during her time at the University of Maryland College Park. She further solidified her legacy by establishing the Tagg Scholarship Fund— a crucial resource for young, queer, women of color pursuing higher education.

As a keynote speaker and facilitator, Eboné is celebrated for her warm energy and unwavering transparency. Fearless in tackling tough conversations, she invites audiences to explore their presence in the world. Approachable both on and off-stage, her humor adds an engaging touch, while her dedication to fostering connections solidifies her status as a dynamic community leader and unforgettable speaker.

Session Description: The Campus Climate Task Force will provide an overview of work from the Fall 2024 semester and present the draft campus climate plan recommendations. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide constructive feedback on the plan recommendations.


Dual Enrollment Peer Mentors: What Have We Learned From Them?

Session Description: GWC Dual Enrollment Peer Mentors are supporting registration of dual enrollment students, and they are conducting interviews of GWC students about current challenges. Come and learn directly from the Dual Enrollment Peer Mentors about what they have found in their experience. Topics include how the peer mentors connect with our current dual enrollment students and families, why students do not respond to Starfish flags, and why students say they want in-person classes but end up registering for online classes insights.

Community Circle with LGBTQ+ Students

Session Description: Have you ever wondered what LGBTQ+ students are looking for at Golden West College, but lacked the circumstances or opportunity to ask them? Join us for an engaging session where you will directly converse with students who identify with the LGBTQ+ community. This is different from a panel. It will dismantle barriers between employee and student using foundational dialogue to get to the root of what our LGBTQ+ students are looking for in their educational spaces. All employees are welcome!


Credit for Prior Learning (CPL): The Who, What, and How

Airtame: Teaching Effortlessly from Any Device

Session Description: This presentation highlights our new wireless casting presentation product called Airtame Hub. This technology allows for seamless screen and audio sharing across a wide range of mobile device platforms such as Apple, Android, and Windows. During this session, you will have the opportunity to see the system in action, explore its features, and ask any questions about its capabilities and integration into your teaching.

These improvements are part of the college’s ongoing commitment to providing modern, functional, and technology-enhanced spaces that support your instructional needs. We value your feedback as the college is considering making this technology available in all learning spaces.


Alphabet Soup: How Counselors and Evaluators use C-ID, ADT, MMP, and ASSIST with Students

Session Description: Counselors will present the methods for working with students to provide academic, career, and personal counseling to meet their educational goals. Session Description: This session will introduce you to who the international students are at and cover key federal regulations related to F-1 student visas and how that may come up in your interactions with international students, whether in the classroom or in other service areas. Marketing 101: A Comprehensive Overview of Marketing Services on Campus

Session Description: GWC’s Marketing and Creative services department is the College’s in-house marketing agency… and we’re here to support you in your efforts to market and brand your programs and departments! The first half of this presentation will introduce, or reacquaint, you with services the marketing team provides, and how you can request design, website, photography, videography, social media services for your program or event. The second half of this session will be more hands-on, with GWC’s marketing team demonstrating how to edit a website, start a social media page, and design marketing pieces using Canva.

Using Canvas Studio to Provide Information and Feedback to Students

Session Description: Are you looking for ways to interact with your students in Canvas? In this workshop we will explore strategies for using Canvas Studio. We will focus on two main areas: sending information to your whole class, and also giving video feedback on assignments. Participants should bring their work laptops with them, since we will be doing several hands-on activities.


What Faculty Need to Know about the Student Code of Conduct
Presenters: Dr. Carla Martinez, Denice Koen, Stephanie Smallshaw, and Kyle Smith

Session Description: In this session, the Assessment & Care Team (ACT) will demystify the Student Code of Conduct process. Participants will learn about the conduct process from the filing of a report to resolution, including common conduct violations and associated sanctions. The Assessment & Care Team (ACT) will also share recent state legislation that will impact the student conduct process starting in the spring semester. Lastly, the session will equip faculty with pro-active classroom management practices and strategies to address disruptive student behavior.
