COMMUNITY SUPPORTS

Being part of a community will make you more likely to succeed in college. Students in a community naturally develop friendships, build meaningful connections with staff and faculty, have a strong support system that will help them through challenging times, receive guidance for academic, personal and professional growth, and feel more connected to the campus as a whole.

TRANSFER SUPPORTS

Golden West College has an incredible Transfer Center – our students have some of the highest transfer rates in the state! You can find more details about all the amazing resources and supports the Transfer Center offers.

MESA works closely with the GWC Transfer Center in many ways – see some of the highlights below.

PROFESSIONAL/CAREER SUPPORTS

One of the unique things about the MESA program is its emphasis on career exploration, career and leadership skills development, and opportunities to gain experience in your field of interest. Students who regularly participate in MESA activities gain the benefit of "being in the know" and are included in email newsletters of Career and Leadership Development workshops, Job Shadowing and Internship opportunities, STEM Conferences and other networking opportunities.

Financial

While MESA does not provide students with money directly, we can help provide resources that will alleviate some of your school-related costs, and connect you with other financial resources.

  • Every semester we will have STEM scholarship application workshops.
  • We have technology resources, school supplies and snacks in the MESA Student Center.
  • The Stand, GWC’s free grocery center, offers free food three times a week.
  • We work with the STEM Center to see that you have priority access to loaner calculators and other classroom tools and resources
  • And we are constantly looking for more ways to help support you
