Resume Building Tips (may vary per situation):

  • Keep a Master Resume.
  • Create a new resume for each job you wish to apply for and align your resume to the job post.
  • Build a clean, concise yet detailed framework.
  • Keep your resume at 1 page if you have 5 or less years of experience, or 2 pages if you have more than 5 years of experience in the industry of your choice.
  • Highlight accomplishments, not just duties.
  • Focus on relevant skills and experiences.
  • Optimize your text with action verbs and metrics.

Cover Letter Tips

  • Utilize the same template used for your Resume (Your resume and cover letter should be matching documents).
  • Identify Cover Letter Style (Traditional or T shape).
  • Directly address hiring manager, if known.
  • Emphasize your core value and how you meet the qualifications.
  • Differentiate yourself from the crowd.
  • Go beyond what’s on your resume, don’t copy and paste.
  • Create an easy read document and finish strong.
